Kenya : le montant des factures d’électricité baisse de 13.7%

Kenya Power promet une réduction de 13.7% du coût de l’électricité à partir du mois d’avril.

La compagnie d’électricité kényane a expliqué cette baisse des factures d’électricité. Elle serait dû au renforcement du shilling kenyan et à la baisse des prix du carburant.

Selon la société, le coût du carburant et l’ajustement des fluctuations de change, ont baissé de 37,3 % entre mars 2024 et avril 2024. Le coût du combustible est passé de 4,64 shillings en mars 2024 à 3,26 shillings en avril 2024. En janvier 2024, il atteignait 4,93 shillings.

D’autre part, les frais d’ajustement du taux de change ont diminué à de 3,68 shillings en mars 2024 à 1,96 shillings en avril 2024, contre un maximum de 6,85 shillings en janvier 2024.

Un client relevant de la tranche tarifaire Domestic Customer 1 (DC1) (ceux qui consomment moins de 30 unités d’électricité par mois) paiera 629 shillings en avril 2024, contre 729 shillings pour des unités similaires en mars 2024, ce qui représente une réduction de 13,7 %.

Le Kenya a subi une série de pannes d’électricité au niveau national. La dernière qui date du 10 décembre 2023, a engendré un blackout dans une grande partie du pays. Il s’agissait de la troisième panne nationale en trois mois.
