L’opposant togolais et ex-Premier ministre Agbéyomé Kodjo est mort

L’ex-Premier ministre Agbéyomé Kodjo est mort en exil. L’opposant qui était arrivé deuxième à la présidentielle de 2020, est mort à 69 ans, suite à un malaise », selon Thomas Kokou N’soukpoe, l’un des responsables de la Dynamique Monseigneur Kpodzro DMK.

En juillet 2020, Agbéyomé Kodjo a fui le Togo, à la suite d’une convocation de la justice et un mandat d’arrêt international à son encontre.

Ancien Premier ministre au début des années 2000, il a occupé plusieurs postes ministériels sous le général Gnassingbé Eyadéma qui a dirigé le Togo d’une main de fer pendant 38 ans.

L’opposant a été limogé en 2002 et incarcéré pendant quelques mois au Togo. Il rejoindra ensuite l’opposition avec la création en 2008 de son parti l’Organisation pour bâtir dans l’Union un Togo solidaire OBUTS. L’OBUTS devient en 2018 le Mouvement patriotique pour la démocratie et le développement MPDD.
